5 Easy Ways to Dress Up Boxed Stuffing
In addition to cranberry sauce, there’s another Thanksgiving dish that divides families into two war-torn camps: stuffing. For some it’s boxed or bust.
Others would rather scrape together crumbs from the bread bin than eat a prepackaged side dish. Although making it from scratch presents a world of possibilities there’s no reason you can’t revamp the boxed variety to please both parties. Check out some of our dressed-up boxed stuffing ideas below.
1. Stuffing with Chinese Sausage and Vegetables
Season 1 1/2 cups chicken broth and a beaten egg with sesame oil, soy sauce and coarsely ground black pepper, then toss with the stuffing cubes. Stir in thinly sliced, sauteed Chinese sausage, scallion whites and shiitake mushrooms, grated ginger, thinly sliced scallion greens and cilantro and parsley leaves. Let stand for 10 minutes before tossing again to serve.
